Matt Shealy is a writer and blogger who works from home.

A typical day starts at 6 am with a blur of two toddlers, strong coffee and breakfast.

I find myself in front of my computer promptly at 8am for an onslaught of email communications that keep my renters insurance website ticking. I will usually get some design mockups from my designer. Reviewing them and providing feedback/modifications keeps me busy until about 10:30am. I love this part of my day because it is so challenging for me. I am not a web design expert but I have trained myself to know what looks good and will provide a good user experience. This is almost always followed by a meeting with my business partner over the phone. We discuss business strategy and issues we are facing for an hour each day. This way we are always on the same page and can bounce ideas off one another. Lunch time comes next. I spend my lunch on the Atlantic ocean every day. This is composed of some local fish sandwich, salad and as much salt air as possible!

Working with people from around the globe can be challenging at times, but that is how my business functions. I spend about three hours after lunch emailing with my designer in India, my writer in California and my developer in Argentina. There is a language barrier at times but we have managed to work through it over time. Working through this challenge has forced me to learn to simplify the language I use and has actually helped me in email communications with local colleagues!

The day's curtain call is picking my little ones up from daycare and coming home to cook a healthy meal. Most days, I stop at the docks to pick up a fresh caught fish and then pick fresh produce from our garden out back. We eat simply but very healthy.
